Police in Kayonza District have recovered varied electronics, which were stolen recently in Mwili Sector when thieves broke into the house in Kageyo Cell at night.
The electronics and other interiors including a flat television screen and a smart phone were recovered, on Tuesday, from the suspected thieve identified as Emmanuel Karake, who was also arrested over the crime.
Chief Inspector of Police (CIP) Theobald Kanamugire, the Police spokesperson in Eastern region, said that the suspect was located with the help of the residents, who provided information on his hideout.
“Five other people have been implicated in this theft, and we are still searching for them. The recovered equipment have been handed over to the rightful owner,” CIP Kanamugire said.
The victim, Pastor James Mugisha, thanked the Police for recovering his items.
“The theft occurred at night, it was raining heavily and thieves seized the moment to break into the house through the window and stole various items including a television set, phones and other interior items. We realized that we have been robbed in the morning when we woke up, and we immediately reported the case,” Mugisha said.
“I am happy that all my belongings have been recovered; where police and the public work together security is guaranteed,” he observed.
