Kamubuga residents up against crimes

Residents of  Kamubuga sector in Gakenke district met of May 26 met and discussed further measures to reinforce security and safety in their area.

The residents vowed to put much effort in crime prevention.

The meeting held in Kamubuga was also attended by the district Mayor, Déogratias Nzamwita and the District Police Commander, Senior Supt. Gilbert Ruhorahoza.

SSP Ruhorahoza explained to them that most crimes are due to consumption of illicit drugs such as cannabis, Kanyanga and chief waragi.

“Drug addicts act unconsciously for they cannot think properly. This leads them to committing crimes including, assault, theft, gender and domestic violence and child abuse,” SSP Ruhorahoza said.

He outlined school drop-outs, unwanted pregnancies and early parenthood as other effects of consuming illicit drugs.

SSP Ruhorahoza appealed to the residents to refrain from such life-threatening acts and continue providing information to Police of those involved in time.

Mayor Nzamwita commended the residents for their continued role in insuring and upholding own safety and security and urged them to continue in that path.

He urged them to embrace government policies to improve their well-being like Ndi Umunyarwanda, subscribe to medical insurance scheme and actively take part in community work, Umuganda.

He reiterated need to assist the families embroiled in wrangles, be an eye for their neighbours and keep a deaf ear to rumours.
