Police in Kamonyi District have arrested one Eric Ndayisenga, 35, for allegedly engaging in theft of a motorcycle.

The suspect was arrested Tuesday in Runda Sector by local security patrols and residents before handing him over to Police.

He was found with the motorcycle TVS registration number RE 990K, which was reported stolen Monday in Nzovu Sector.

It is alleged that one of the suspected thieves boarded a motorcycle to Nzovu Sector; little did the motorcyclist know that he was being lured into the trap.

Chief Inspector of Police (CIP) Bonaventure Karekezi, the southern region police spokesperson, said that the “suspects bought him alcohol, made him drunk before stealing his motorcycle.”

He thanked the residents for exercising their community policing rights to apprehend the suspect and to recover the stolen motorcycle.

“If you suspect someone to be engaged in unlawful dealings, call the Police,” CIP Karekezi said.
