Police seized over 1400 litres of a locally made illicit brew in Kamonyi district.
The illicit brew was confiscated on July 10 in a police targeted operation in Mugina sector.
They were recovered in four households. Five people were arrested in connection with the act.
The seized illicit brew was destroyed in presence of area residents and students.
Supt. Vitor Hamza, the District Police Commander, while speaking shortly after the destruction, cautioned them against the illegal act.
He said majority of drug dealers have been arrested adding that even the few still involved will be apprehended, if they don't put to an end this illegal act.
He appealed to the residents to give no room for such individuals adding that the consequences of drug abuse affect them all.
"These drugs are consumed by your children, spouses or friends and they will drive them to do other criminal things like fighting, stealing your property," said Supt. Hamza.
