Kamonyi: Miners urged to take precautions

Kamonyi District Police Commander Superintendent Hamza Vita has called upon miners in the district to take precautions to avoid likely disaster risks.

While meeting with heads and representatives of mining companies last week, Supt. Hamza to acquire protective equipment like helmets, eye and face protection equipment and belts.

He also asked them to register their employees and get life protection insurance for them.

He also warned against illegal mining which sometimes results into deaths.

Recently one person in Bugesera died when  a cliff of the closed mining site curved-in.

Alphonse Rugiramumaro one of the participants lauded Police’s continued support and advises.

“Protecting employees from accidents will not only save lives but will also benefit our association through increased production.” Observed Rugiramumaro.
