The delegation led by  Commissioner Djekouehi León, the head of Security operations in the Ivory Coast National Commission of Small Arms and Light Weapons, was received by the Commissioner of Public Relations and Community Policing, ACP Damas Gatare.

ACP Gatare explained to the officers the RNP journey since its inception in June 2000.

He also explained to them the community policing concept, which has become a norm among Rwandans in ensuring own safety.

The delegation commended RNP for its achievements in the shortest time.

Commissioner Leon said: "Rwanda and Ivory Coast share some historical background. Therefore, there is a need to learn from each other’s experience in different fields."

They also lauded RNP's community policing strategy to ensure their own safety, which he said should be emulated by other forces.

He added: “Rwanda is an exemplary country to learn from. We hope to gain more from its experience."
