IGP Namuhoranye in Singapore on official visit

The Inspector General of Police (IGP), CG Felix Namuhoranye, is on an official working visit to Singapore aimed at strengthening bilateral cooperation between the two countries’ law enforcement institutions.

On Monday, April 27, CG Namuhoranye together with the Secretary General of the Rwanda Investigation Bureau (RIB), Col (Rtd) Pacifique Kayigamba Kabanda, and Rwanda’s Ambassador to Singapore, Innocent Muhizi, met with the Commissioner of the Singapore Police Force, How Kwang Hwee, at the Singapore Police Headquarters.

The discussions focused on enhancing collaboration between the two agencies, with particular emphasis on leveraging modern technology in policing and addressing emerging forms of crime.

As part of the visit, the delegation will also participate in the MilipolTechX Summit, a three-day international forum that brings together security agencies from around the world.

The summit provides a platform to advance global cooperation in security through innovation and the adoption of modern technologies.

Rwanda and Singapore have enjoyed growing cooperation in policing since the signing of a bilateral agreement in August 2022. The agreement provides for collaboration in areas such as training, knowledge exchange, information sharing, and joint security operations.

It also places emphasis on capacity building to address transnational crimes, including cybercrime, human trafficking, online child exploitation, and money laundering.

The partnership further seeks to strengthen public safety, prevent smuggling, and curb the illegal trade in weapons and ammunition, reflecting a shared commitment to tackling evolving security challenges.
