The Inspector General of Police (IGP), CG Felix Namuhoranye, has reiterated the Rwanda National Police (RNP) commitment to building a strong, professional, and transparent Police FC capable of competing both locally and internationally.
The IGP made the remarks on Monday, February 2, during a dinner hosted in honor of Police FC players and management at La Paris Hotel in Gashora, Bugesera District, following the club’s victory in the Rwanda Heroes Cup 2026.
He praised the team for its impressive performance and emphasized that Police FC’s success must be founded on discipline, quality training, and fair play rather than shortcuts.
“We are building a team that can compete at the highest level in Rwanda and beyond. Our victories must come from hard work, proper preparation, and good football—not cheating. This path may require more investment, but it is the right, sustainable, and transparent way,” he said.
He called on the technical staff to openly communicate their needs to strengthen the squad and ensure long-term success.

“Our goal is to build a strong, professional team free from corruption—one that gives Rwandans confidence by playing attractive football and winning through integrity and transparency,” he added.
The IGP noted that the decision to overhaul the club’s leadership last year was part of a deliberate strategy to transform Police FC.
“Last year, we made a bold decision to change the leadership of Police FC with a clear vision in mind. That is why we appointed a new board and technical staff, whom we commend today.”
He strongly condemned unethical practices often associated with football, stressing that such behaviors have no place at Police FC.
“Bribery and any other form of malpractice have no room in football."
Police FC clinched the Rwanda Heroes Cup 2026 title on Sunday, January 1, after defeating APR FC 7–6 in a penalty shootout.
