The Inspector General of Police, Emmanuel K. Gasana received, on May 12 at his office in Kacyiru, a team of nine experts from Nippon Electric Company (NEC), a Japanese information technology firm and discussed various cyber security-related issues.
IGP Gasana, who welcomed them at the Rwanda National Police (RNP), thanked them for the good partnership especially for extending the expertise in cyber security.
He briefed them on the RNP’s initiatives to detect, investigate and apprehend those involved in cyber-related crimes.
“The visit falls under the existing correspondences and partnerships between RNP and NEC Corporation in various cyber security fields to fight cyber crimes,” the IGP said.
The head of the delegation and the vice President of NEC, Miwa Toru commended Rwanda National Police for prioritizing IT in policing.
Toru pledged more support to share more skills and knowledge in cyber security, especially internet crimes.
The delegation will also train police officers in various security discipline including cyber security and biometric solutions.
