Hundreds of Gisagara residents welcome Mobile Police Station vehicle

Over 200 residents of Gisagara District welcomed the Mobile Police Station Vehicle as it continued its mission to deliver Rwanda National Police (RNP) services to residents throughout the country.

Police has extended this service to all provinces so far, with thousands of residents presenting their complaints and reports to officers.

The services is extended to citizens living or working in places located far away from Police stations – and has so far reached out to residents in Kirehe, Kamonyi, Rwamagana, among others.

On April 1, the Mobile Police Station Vehicle packed in Nyanza Sector and received over 200 residents with complaints and repots - particularly those residing or working in areas located far away from Police stations.

Most of the complaints presented centered on land wrangles, gender-based families, assault, family neglect and asset disputes.

Police listened to all the complaints and sorted them out according to relevant institutions charged with solving them.

In an interview, the Executive Secretary of Nyanza Sector commended Rwanda National Police for putting quality service delivery at the helm of its operations and urged residents to always work with police through community policing in order to overcome challenges.

“Police has endeavored to stay close to all citizens, even those who stay in far away remote areas. This is a sign of quality service delivery. In turn, citizens should cooperate with Police, through Community Policing to overcome crime in society,” he said.

During the event, residents were sensitized about Police initiatives aimed at fostering peace, law and order, and urged them to cooperate in these initiatives through community policing.

Chief Superintendent Hurbert Gashagaza, Police Spokesperson for South Province told the residents that by partnering with Police through community policing, the peace, security and order that we enjoy will be sustained.

“Criminals must know that they have nowhere to hide in Rwanda. Let us always work together and promote the values of patriotism, peace and security, he said.

During the operations of Police Mobile Station Vehicle, RNP partners with the ministries of Justice, and Local Government and Social Affairs so that all the complaints received by the Police Mobile Station Vehicle can receive adequate attention

Police remains with complaints that are within its mandate to investigate, while the rest are channeled to relevant institutions such as the judiciary and local leaders, where residents can get further assistance.

Another very notable service that these vehicles are providing is education to residents on matters pertaining their rights and freedoms and where to report particular complaints they may be having.

Police currently has three Mobile Station Vehicles that cover countrywide areas which are assessed to be in need of the services.
