Higher Life Foundation officials visit Isange One Stop Centre

A delegation of three officials from Higher Life foundation in Zimbabwe, yesterday, visited Isange One Stop Centre to have a firsthand experience on how the Government of Rwanda has managed to handle and responds to the vice of Gender Based Violence (GBV).

Higher Life Foundation is based in Zimbabwe, works in different countries in Africa to support orphans and other vulnerable children especially acquire education.

The delegation is in the country for a four-day visit, which aims at sharing the organization’s experience with Rwanda.

Tafadzwa Sithole, one of the visiting officials, said they were impressed by the Rwanda’s “strong and sounding strategies” to combat Gender Based Violence and child abuse.

“I have never seen a facility like Isange in all the countries we have visited. It’s really amazing that victims of GBV receive medical, legal and counseling service – all in one place,” Tafadzwa said.

“We don’t have a facility like this back in Zimbabwe. It’s a wonderful place for people; the impression is powerful and worth emulating,” she added.

At the centre, they were received by the Coordinator of Isange One Stop Centre, Supt. Shafiga Murebwayire, who briefed them on the historical background that necessitated the establishment of the centre and guided them to various wings including the children, counseling and legal wings.

Isange, which currently operates in 44 hospitals across the country, has doctors, psychologists, social workers, judicial police officers that are tasked with helping victims to acquire all the necessary services in one place and free of charge.
