Combined 21 goals scored by Brax Nkengurutse, Fidele Hagenimana (Machine) and Zacharie Tuyishime guided Police Handball Club to another comfortable 42-25 win over ES Kigoma on Day-Two of the National Handball Championship on Sunday.
Nkengurutse scored the match-high 8 goals while Machine and Tuyishime were on target 7 and 6 times, respectively, as the defending champions secured an easy away win to stay atop of the five-team Southern Division with six maximum points and 31 goal difference.
The Southern Division is composed of Police, UR-Huye, ES Kigoma, Nyakabanda and Munyove.
The first-half ended 18-12 in favour of the visitors and Police added more 24 goals in the second period to complete the mission away in Ruhango.
The reigning and record seven-time league champions won their opening game 33-19 against Nyakabanda.
Police Handball coach, Inspector of Police (IP) Antoine Ntabanganyimana thanked his players for their continued winning spirit.
“We consider and treat each game equally, all clubs are considered strong, this guides us to prepare ourselves well from that context,” said IP Ntabanganyimana.
“We have other tournaments ahead like EAPCCO games, and every match is learning and training experience; we correct every error encountered in the previous game.”
