Giving quality services is one of the values of RNP

The Commissioner for Inspectorate of Service and Ethics, Assistant Commissioner of Police (ACP) Emmanuel Karasi told Police officers to aim for service excellence as one of the values of Rwanda National Police (RNP).

ACP Karasi made the call on Friday while presiding over the closing of the customer care training at the RNP General Headquarters in Kacyiru.

The five-day training of 50 Police officers aimed at improving their customer care services in their daily duties.

Participants were drawn from Traffic and Road Safety, Motor-vehicle Inspection Centre (MIC), Airport Unit and Public Relations and Media,  among other Police units.

"As the Police, we are accountable to the people, we must strive to ensure that they get all the services they need in a friendly manner without any hindrances," ACP Karasi told the officers.

He noted that it's unacceptable and unprofessional to give responses that give no hope to someone seeking or inquiring about a certain service.

"Service excellence is one of the values of RNP, so receive those who come to you with integrity and love. Even when you are not in position to offer the required service or can't address the concern right there, one should leave with hope," he said.

Inspector of  Police (IP) Alice Bayera Kalisa, one of the participants, observed that training on customer care services is crucial especially in fighting corruption.

"The general public are our day-to-day customers but also our lead partners in policing; you expect that the kind of service you give them will determine what you get from them in return," IP Bayera said.

Another participant, Police Costable (PC) Benjamin Ndayisaba from the department of Traffic and Road Safety, said that the training enlightened him on how to receive and handle concerns of people who seek road traffic related services.

"The Traffic and Road Safety is one of the departments of RNP that receives many people on a daily basis, and they come with expectations that their issues have to be heard and addressed. So, it's imperative to know how to satiy hundreds of people," PC Ndayisaba said.

The training focused on anti-corruption strategies, professional ethics, political and civic education, and public relations.
