Gisagara District Community Liaison Officer (DCLO), Inspector of Police Alphonse Nkaka, on July 31, met with over 70 commercial motorcyclists operating in Mugombwa sector and appealed to them to operate carefully respecting road traffic rules.
The meeting held in Mugombwa cell was also attended by the Executive Secretary of Mugombwa sector, Gilbert Nyirimana.
AIP Nkaka told the motorcyclists that breach of road rules and instructions like over-taking in dangerous places, driving without license, transporting more than one passenger or with luggage, has been leading to accidents that claim lives and destroy property.
He also appealed to them to be vigilant and know the baggage they transport to avoid being used to take illegal goods.
He also asked them to be cautious of the passengers and luggage they transport and report suspicious individuals, luggage and any other illegal or criminal acts like illicit drug trade and use, be hygienic and deliver good quality service.
He also urged them to embrace government programs, monthly Community work (Umuganda), medical insurance.
The motorcyclists also pledged to report criminals, including their defiant colleagues and share information with security organs on anything that might affect them in their businesses and the public in general.
