The national road safety campaign, Gerayo Amahoro continued this week in City of Kigali where different categories of road users were reminded to make road safety a choice and culture.
On Wednesday, January 23, the road safety awareness campaign was conducted in different sectors of Kicukiro targeting mainly cyclists.
Similarly, in Gasabo District, the campaign was extended to students and teaching staff of GS Rutunga.
Through this campaign, Rwanda National Police (RNP) emphasized the role of every road user in preventing accidents through respecting traffic rules.
Road users were encouraged to abide by traffic rules and regulations and to avoid dangerous practices like drunk driving, violation or reckless use of pedestrian crosswalks and using a phone when driving, riding or crossing the road, all which contribute to fatal accidents.
Students were urged to always use the left side of the road facing oncoming traffic, to use zebra crossing, be vigilant while crossing the road, look left, right and left before crossing, not to play in the middle of road, among others.
Cyclist in Niboye, Kicukiro were reminded to avoid any reckless behaviors which lead to fatal accidents.
