Three people have been arrested in Gatsibo District in connection with stealing 18 school computer laptops.
The laptops belonging to Rwisirabo secondary school went missing from the school computer laboratory on October 27, Chief Inspector of Police (CIP) Theobald Kanamugire the Eastern region Police spokesperson, said.
At the time of their arrest on October 29, CIP Kanamugire said, the trio was found with one of the stolen laptops.
"No door or window was vandalised... they were intact; it was possibly collaborated by someone inside. The suspects have been handed over to Rwanda Investigation Bureau for further management," CIP Kanamugire said.
He appealed to members of the public to share credible information leading to the full recovery of the laptops meant for students' ICT units.
“These computers are meant to facilitate learners develop their knowledge and skills, and to be competent future adults. We appeal to anyone with information that would facilitate their recovery to come forward, and to ensure that anyone connected to this theft is brought to book," CIP Kanamugire said.
