Police in Gasabo District has recovered three laptops which were stolen in July this year.

The laptops were recovered on November 19 in separate locations in Remera sector.

One person; Eric Hategekimana, 19, was also arrested in connection with the theft and is held at Remera Police Station as investigations continue.

Te suspect confessed to the crime and said he was stealthily sneaking into residential premises to steal the laptops, which he usually sells for Rwf86, 000.

“People should work instead of resorting to stealing to survive, which is a criminal act that lead individuals to prison and thus spoiling their lives. Young people must find legitimate work to do rather than resort to robbery for quick cash,” Police Spokesperson for the Central Region, Supt. Modeste Mbabazi, said.

He called upon the business community to lay strategies, including installation of CCTV cameras in their premises to facilitate investigations.

He also urged the public to resist the temptation of buying stolen goods but rather, buy from recognized shops and report suspicions to police.
