Members of community night patrol in Rutunga Sector of Gasabo District were urged to aim for exemplary and professional policing services.
They were also urged to improve vigilance and working relations with other community members to be able to get real and fast information on any likely wrongdoers.
The call was made on Monday during the meeting that was attended by 157 Irondo personnel in Rutunga Sector.
The meeting mainly focused on enlightening the community night patrol on professional community policing aspects.
Chief Inspector of Police (CIP) Irene Umuhozari, the District Political and Civic Education Officer (DPCEO) for Gasabo, flanked by the Executive Secretary for Rutunga Sector, reminded Irondo personnel that they were selected by their communities because they have trust in them.
The DPCEO said such trust should be returned by ensuring that residents are safe and criminals such as drug dealers and thieves are identified and arrested.
"Trust and professionalism are depicted in accomplishing the task at hand. If drug dealers and thieves are still roaming in your communities that means there are still some loopholes to fix. Work with community members to identify such people and share information in real time," CIP Umuhozari told Irondo members.
The Executive Secretary for Rutunga Sector, Clarisse Uwamaliya emphasized the message given and commended RNP’s efforts to make Irondo personnel more professional. She urged them to fight against injustice and corruption through collaborating with concerned organs and timely sharing of information.
They resolved to strengthen their night patrols, enhance working relations with residents and the Police through timely information sharing, map out areas used by drug dealers and suspected thieves, and their identities.
