Gakenke motorists urged to participate in development initiatives

Motorcycle taxi operators operating in Gakenke District have been called upon to actively take part in the district development initiatives and join the voice for sustainable security.

The appeal was made on May 8 during a meeting that brought together all motorcyclists, security and local leader in the district.

It aimed at strengthening cooperation in the development of the district and tightening security in particular.

Senior Superintendent Gilbert Ruhorahoza, the District Police Commander urged them to be wide awake on anything that can cause insecurity by providing timely information.

He also asked them to do review their business operations, be characterized by discipline professionalism by observing traffic rules and report their colleagues and other people involved illegal acts, which tarnishes their name.

Oswald Nsengimana, director of good governance in the district explained to the motorists the unique partnership between the Gakenke and Rwanda National Police.

Gakenke and RNP signed a Memorandum of Understand to cooperate in various fields of crime prevention and poverty eradication.

The RNP also formalized its partnership with all the 30 districts in the country to strengthen cooperation in the development of the country through tightened measures to ensure security, the backbone to development and support various poverty alleviation initiatives.

Nsengimana asked them to be critical to ensure this partnership a success for the good of the people of Gakenke and the country in general.

Esperance Mumararungu, the director of medical insurance – mituelle de santé – in Gakenke appealed to them to take the lead to subscribe to the annual health scheme and also advise their communities on the purpose and importance of health insurance.
