Residents of Gahanga sector in Kicukiro district have reinforced their strategies to further improve security and safety in the area.
During their meeting held on May 20 in Gahanga cell, residents observed that strengthening community night patrols, neighbourhood watch and identifying suspected wrongdoers is essential if they have to continue to improve security in their area.
They also observed that some parents don’t follow up the behaviour of their children, sometimes who are involved in crimes like drug abuse.
The meeting was also attended by the district Mayor, Paul Jules Ndamage.
Mayor Ndamage thanked Gahanga residents for being the solution to the problem.
“It is a good thing to see Rwandans working together to develop together and to support each other in times of need,” Ndamage noted.
He also urged them to abstain from illegal acts and report those involved, ignore rumors and stay focused on their daily development activities.
He also appealed to them to embrace and implement government development policies to improve their well being.
Assistant Inspector of Police Hamdun Twizeyimana, the District Community Liaison Officer observed that most crimes like domestic violence, theft and assault are due to drug abuse.
He urged them to continue with the spirit to effectively safeguard their community.
AIP Twizeyimana appealed to the residents to refrain from crimes, namely, drug abuse, among others, reinforce night patrols in their respective areas and ignore the self-declared prophets.
