The Rwanda National Police continues to advise and appeal to families that still reside in areas demarcated as high risk zones and other dangerous places to relocate to safer zones allocated by respective districts to avoid being prey to likely disasters.
Districts allocated areas where families living in swampy, hilly and other dangerous zones can relocate to avoid disasters like landslides and their houses being washed away by floods, but some families are yet to heed to this life-saving call.
The Friday heavy downpour in various parts of the country displaced some families, majority affected being those in such dangerous zones.
Six families living a dangerous zones in Kayonza district are among the victims.
The Rwanda National Police therefore reminds families that still live in such places to seek information from their local authorities about the allocated safer zones and support, to relocate as soon as possible.
Communities are also appealed to support such affected families in any way possible.
Road users, especially drivers are also cautioned to be vigilant while hitting the road in this rainy period because roads become slippery and sometimes infrastructure destroyed, which might result into accidents.
