Five people were arrested yesterday in Kanombe and Gikondo sectors, Kicukiro in connection with illicit drugs-related dealings.

Pierre Ndagijimana, Emmanuel Harerimana, Amon Habiyaremye, Dieudonné Ihirwe and Denise Ahobategeye were were found in possession of over 1000 rolls of cannabis, at the time of their arrest.

The suspects currently detained at Kicukiro Police station are part of individuals that sell narcotics in the district, Police said.

Chief Supt. Fred Ndoli, the District Police Commander thanked members of the public, who provided information about the suspects' illegal business and their arrest.

He lauded Kicukiro residents for their continued cooperation in crime prevention through community policing.

“We arrested Ndagijimana in Kanombe, who gave us names of his collaborators, who were apprehended later," CSP Ndoli said.

He said investigations are still on to find out other people connected to this group.
