Security organs and local authorities in Gasabo District on July 18 paid farewell to 227 members of former Local Defence Forces in the district with a call to carry on with the spirit of ensuring safety in the country.

LDF will be replaced by another well trained and professional administrative organ called DASSO and 43 ex-LDF in Gasabo will comprise the new organ.

The mayor of Gasabo, Willy Ndizeye urged the ex-LDF to continue with the spirit of patriotism and partner with other residents in crime prevention and other development programs.

He advised them to form or join and be part of association as a tool that will 'facilitate them in development.

Chief Supt. Johnson Ntaganda, the District Police Commander asked them not to tilt from their traditional cause of reporting in time anything that can be of threat to safety and security.

"Going back to normal lives does not mean to forget the obligation of being security ambassadors' said CSP Ntaganda.
