EAPCCO Games: RNP Handball Club off to a winning start

The Rwanda National Police (RNP) Handball Club started on a high note on Wednesday with a win over Kenya Police Service in their opening match of the Eastern Africa Police Chiefs Cooperation Organization (EAPCCO) Games in Nairobi.

The defending champions easied past the hosts with 32 goals to 26.

The first period ended in favour of RNP handball club (15-11) before completing the mission in the second half.

RNP players; Viateur Rwamanywa, Gilbert Mutuyimana and Fidele Hagenimana (Machine) scored six goals each to guide the reigning champions to stay on course of winning the golden medal and retaining the cup, which they won in the second edition of the regional law enforcement tournament, in Tanzania last year.

"We played well and got our deserved win; it was a good start, which is always crucial in a competition, all players are available and focused," RNP coach, Inspector of Police (IP) Antoine Ntabanganyimana said.

RNP will play Uganda Police Force on Friday. Should they win their second match, they will have successfully defended the cup.
