Drivers advised to be vigilant as rainy season gets underway

The Rwanda National Police Traffic and Road Safety Department appeals to drivers to drive carefully to avoid accidents that might result from heavy downpour.

Chief Inspector of Police (CIP), Emmanuel  Kabanda, the Spokesperson for Traffic and Road Safety Department said drivers hold key role in road security.

"High speed is pose high risk of accident especially after it has rained; rain makes the road slippery and likely to cause make an over speeding vehicle to overturn," CIP Kabanda said.

He further reminded owners of vehicles to replace old tyres which is another contributor to road accidents especially in rainy season.

The traffic Spokesperson also appealed to drivers to always turn on lights during heavy downpour and fog or mist.

"In cases where there is heavy rains and drivers cannot clearly observe clearly beyond 100 metres, it is advisable that they pull aside until things turns to normal," he advised.
