Dove School Saint Jean Chrysostome pupils visit Rwanda National Police

On Thursday, March 14, about 90 pupils of Dove School Saint Jean Chrysostome led by their teaching staff, visited Rwanda National Police (RNP) Headquarters in Kacyiru to learn more about community policing.

At the General Headquarters, they visited the departments of Community Policing, Command and Coordination Centre (CCC) where CCTV cameras are controlled, and Fire and Rescue Brigade (FRB).

At the CCC, the pupils learnt how the RNP uses CCTV cameras to ensure security of people and their property whereas the community policing department gave them a glimpse of how the force works with the public in security and community development.

It was an experience at the FRB where the pupils saw different equipment used during emergencies, and got the chance to use them during demonstrations.

They also visited the Regional Centre of Excellence on Gender Based Violence and Child Abuse, where they were explained on child rights, including right to education, right to health services, right to family, among others.

Josiane Ngirabanyiginya, the headmistress of the school said that the main objective of the tour was to know all activities conducted by the RNP, and how the Police works.

"Some of these pupils will in future become Police officers, they are curious to know how the Police works in different domains like fire, maintaining security on the road among others.

"Coming here brings their thinking to reality and they will grow up with proactive policing behaviours" the headmistress said.
