Double win for Police Handball Club

  Police Handball Club continued their impressive performance over the weekend with a double win over Kimisagara-based Nyakabanda and ES Urumuri of Karongi District.

The 38-14 easy win over ES Urumuri away in Karongi on Saturday and 52-24 win over Nyakabanda on Sunday increased the law enforcer’s tally to ten maximum points in five games, and to remain in the driving seat at the summit of the 2018 National Handball Championship.

“We have good players but the support of our institution—Rwanda National Police—the determination, commitment and teamwork of players are key for our current performance,” Police coach, Senior Sgt. Dismas Turatsinze said.

The record five-time national league champions entered started the national championship tournament with three new players; Viateur Rwamanywa, Emmanuel Murwanashyaka and Alex Nshimiyimana, all signed from APR.

The new recruits were key in the winning of this year’s Heroes' Day Cup last month when they beat APR 46-37 in the finals.

Currently, Police remains top of the log with ten points with ADEGI and College de Gisenyi tied at eight points while APR follows with six points, although win two games in hand.
