DIGP Ujeneza attends Mozambique Police graduation ceremony
Monday, September 19: The Deputy Inspector General of Police (DIGP) in charge of Administration and Personnel, Jeanne Chantal Ujeneza, was in Mozambique where she attended the graduation of Mozambican Republic Police Basic Course on Monday, September 19.
DIGP Ujeneza attended the graduation at the invitation of the Inspector General of Mozambican Republic Police Service, Bernadino Rafael.
At least 11,000 Police recruits, including 4,000 women, completed the 42nd intake of the basic course.
The colourful graduation held at Escola Practical Matalana Police School in Maputo, was presided over by the President of Mozambique, Phillipe Nyusi. Read more...
ROAD SAFETY: Police impound 80 motorcycles for overloading
Monday September 19: Motorcyclists hava been advised against overloading, which can cause road accidents and loss of lives.
Senior Superintendent of Police (SSP) Rene Irere, the spokesperson for Traffic and Road Safety department, said that there has been an increase of motorcyclists, who overload and sometimes transporting both goods and people, a serious and reckless traffic violation.
In the previous one week alone, about 80 motorcycles were impounded in Kigali for overloading.
These motorcycles were transporting big sacks making it impossible for them to see anything coming from behind, some of them could not control the motorcycle especially in traffic because of the heavy loads and others ended up involving in accidents.
These reckless practice in Kigali is common in downtown Nyabugogo and Kimisagara, where most of the motos were impounded transporting heavy loads especially foodstuff. Read more...
Police recovers another stolen motorcycle in Gatsibo
Friday, September 23: Police in Gatsibo District recovered a stolen motorcycle from a suspected thief identified as Ezeckiel Mwizerwa, 33, who was arrested in Kageyo Sector, Busetsa Cell in Nyarubuye Village.
The motorcycle, TVS RD 282N, was reported stolen last year. Read more...
RUBAVU: Residents sensitized on effects of drinking illicit brew
Thursday, September 22: Residents of Rubavu District were cautioned against producing, selling and consuming illicit drinks.
While addressing hundreds of residents from Rubavu and Bugeshi sectors on Thursday, September 22, Police and local leaders urged them to invest in legal businesses instead of wasting their money in producing and selling illicit drinks, leading to their arrest and imprisonment.
The sensitization included disposing of 2300 litres of illicit brew, which was seized from two producers in the two sectors of Rubavu and Bugeshi. Read more...
NYARUGENGE: Man arrested attempting to circulate counterfeit money
Monday, September 19: Police in City of Kigali arrested a man, who was attempting to circulate counterfeit money amounting to US$1500 (over Frw1,580,000).
Marcel Mfitumukiza, 55, was arrested at a forex bureau in Nyarugenge District, Nyarugenge Sector in Kiyovu Cell, Inyarurembo Village.
The counterfeits were in the denominations of $100 (10 bills) and other 10 bills in the denominations of $50. Read more...
