DIGP Marizamunda urges Police officers to be active in home-grown initiatives

The Deputy Inspector General of Police in charge of Administration and Personnel, Juvenile Marizamunda has challenges Police officers to be more active in community development activities like the monthly communal work – Umuganda – which is one of the home-grown solutions to spearhead the country’s transformation process.

DIGP Marizamunda made the call on December 27 while addressing Police officers at Kacyiru general headquarters, shortly after this year’s last Umuganda.

“Police officers, like all Rwandans, have a duty to be part in the successful implementation of development initiatives like Umuganda, to be solutions to our problems,” he said.

He said the force puts community development forward, among its activities including giving heifer, building houses, mosquito nets and medical insurance for the vulnerable families.

The officers cleared shrubs and trenches in Kacyiru while elsewhere, police officers joined communities across the country in various community work activities.
