Police football club will face APR in Cecafa Kagame Cup semi-finals on Friday at Amahoro National Stadium after both sides overcame their quarter-final opponents on penalty shootouts yesterday at Kigali regional stadium.
Goalkeeper Marcel Nzarora was the afternoon's hero for police after he scored the 11th penalty to make it 9-8, after the match ended a 90-minute goalless-draw.
It was Andre Cassa Mbungo’s fifth match in charge as Police FC coach, winning all of them.
Peter Kagabo, Moussa Mutuyimana, Gabriel Mugabo, Jacques Tuyisenge, Mousa Habimana, Eric Ngendahimana, Fabrice Twagizimana, Peter Kagabo also converted their kicks though it finally rested in the hands of their goalie against his counterpart to see them through after both sides were tied on 8 goals each.
This was after Fredrick Ndaka and Jimmy Mbaraga missed their spot kicks for Police.
Police FC will now face APR in the semis after the latter also eliminated Rayon Sport 4-3 on penalty shootout after a 2-all draw in normal time.
The quarter-final action continues today when El Mereikh of Sudan take on Tanzanian champions Azam FC at 2:30pm before KCCA come up against South Sudan outfit Atlabara, kickoff at 5pm—both matches are at Kigali Regional Stadium.
