Members of District Administration Security Support Organ (DASSO) in Huye and Goma districts have been urged to be exemplary and defined by high level of discipline, one of the prerequisites for service delivery in ensuring security and peace prevail.
The call was made on May 16 in separate meetings held in the two districts.
In Ngoma, Mayor Alphonse Nambaje accompanied by district community liaison officer(DCLO) IP JeanPierre Ndayisaba, while speaking to 85 DASSO personnel, he told them that they cannot earn the trust of the people if they are undisciplined, violent or corrupt.
“Your job requires you to always be ready for any intervention whenever you are asked to. You should as well be characterized with smartness and accountability in all you do; remember discipline should be the foundation of all you do,” Nambaje said.
The mayor further urged them to enhance their partnership with the public and other stakeholders.
In Huye, the vice mayor in charge of Social Affairs Christine Niwemugeni told DASSO personnel to strengthen their cooperation with Police and share information in time to facilitate timely response to crime.
“You are required to tackle societal challenges with confidence and professionalism. You should not tolerate colleagues who are disrespectful to the public and drunkards because they taint the image to the institution,” she said.
“Collaborate with Rwanda National Police and other law enforcing organs and be close to the people because they are the ones you are serving,” she added.
IP Rukundo Mucyo, the District Community Liaison Officer of Huye, who also attended the meeting, thanked them for the good work in crime prevention saying that their presence on the ground equally continues to add value in terms of safety and security.
IP Rukundo, however, urged them to be more vigilant and to encourage people to be part of community policing programme.
