Police operations against trade and use of illicit drugs in all parts of the country is still on.

On July 13, the operation was conducted in Nyamagabe district where over 400 litres illicit brew were seized in Buruhukiro sector where suspects were also apprehended.

They are currently detained at Gasaka Police station.

Superintendent Javier  Ntakirutimana said those arrested include individuals who have been making and selling the illicit brew.

"This operation was targeting bar owners to see if they do their business in an illegal way including selling accepted alcohol and if they allow only people above 18 years of age," said Supt. Ntakirutimana.

He warned bar owners against giving alcohol to under-aged people and selling illegal liquor.

He also appealed to the public to continue with the cooperation providing information on people involved in criminal acts.
