A Congolese man was arrested on Tuesday in Rusizi District after Police recovered a pistol in his luggage.
Sanka Amor Bamure, who was apparently driving Congolese commuter omnibus, was apprehended on the Rwanda side of Bugarama border in Ryankana cell of Bugarama sector.
Assistant Inspector of Police Javan Mvano, Police spokesperson for the Western region said the pistol, serial number 16288 was concealed in a bag of rice.
He is currently detained at Kamembe Police Station as investigations continue.

“Investigations are still ongoing to ascertain where he got it and where he was taking it,” AIP Mvano added.
He also appealed to the members of the general public that still possess firearms and explosives illegally or have knowledge of their whereabouts, to voluntarily hand them to security organs or local authorities.
He further urged them not to touch any suspicious objects they suspect to be an explosive, instead, report them to security organs and other concerned authorities.
