Community Policing officers urged to maintain the image of the force

Forty seven Police officers who include District Community Liaison Officers (DCLO) completed a five-day training in community policing related approaches with a call to work with the public and to maintain the image of the force.

The Inspector General of Police, Emmanuel K. Gasana, while officially closing the course at the Ethics Centre in Kacyiru challenged the officers to be result-focused by implementing the policing strategies initiated to prevent crimes.

"By achieving your targets means further improving safety and security in the country, which is the RNP focus," IGP Gasana observed

The Police Chief also urged participants to uphold the Rwandan values in their duties.

He further urged them to work with Community Policing Committees and night patrols because they are the people with information that  could lead to crime prevention.

The officers covered various policing areas aimed at crime prevention such as how to work with the media, identifying and fighting gender-based violence and timely information exchange.

The trainining was organised by Rwanda National Police in Partnership with the United Nations Development Programme (UNDP).
