Over 120 members of Community Policing Committees (CPCs) of Mataba Sector, Gakenke District met on December 1 to evaluate their policing performance and to seek for ways to reinforce safety and security in their area.
Gathered in Nyundo Cell, the CPCs seized the opportunity to share work experiences and views on how to deal with policing challenges that still trouble the area.
Present at the function was Aimable Rwizigura, in charge of Civil Affairs at the sector and Inspector of Police (IP), Alexandre Mwezi, District Community Liaison Officer (DCLO).
Rwizigura commended the role played by CPCs in ensuring security and urged them to stand against wrongdoings and report those involved.
He urged them to be role models, disciplined and people of integrity.
IP Mwezi thanked the CPCs for their role in insuring security in their localities and urged them to vigilantly fight crime rather than wait to deal with its consequences.
He also reminded them to tighten night patrols and also fight trade and consumption of illicit drugs.
