Bukure residents tipped on solving family conflicts

The director of sensitization and training in the Rwanda National Police directorate of Community Policing, Chief Inspector of Police Jean Claude Kabandana met with met with residents of Bukure sector in Gicumbi district on June 19 and discussed matters related to improving security in the area.

The sensitization meeting follows the recent incident in Rwesero cell where a month and her three-year old son were killed.

He explained to them that ensuring security in a two-way traffic and appealed to them to strengthen cooperation with security organs and report neighbouring families that could be facing internal conflicts so that they can be helped to solve them before they turn violent.

Citing the example of the murder incident perpetuated by the husband of the deceased, CIP Kabanda said it would have been prevented had neighbours, who allegedly were versed with their conflicts, reported it.

“In case of misunderstanding, people should not take justice into their own hands; they should instead lodge their complaints to concerned authorities,” he advised.

The executive secretary Bukure, Emmanuel Kagina advised the community to be an eye for neigbours, keep their security, fight the use of drugs.

He also disclosed that they have identified 38 families facing internal conflicts, who will be visited.

One of the residents, Valentine Nyiraneza, thanked Rwanda National Police for the continuous advice and support to ensure safety of their families.
