Bugesera: Police recovers stolen motorcycle

Police in Bugesera District have recovered a motorcycle, which was stolen mid-this year in Ruhango District.

The motorcycle, TVS registration number RB 719P, belonging to Jean Baptiste Ndikuryayo, which was reported stolen in May, was recovered in Rweru Sector on Thursday, August 27, from the suspected thief identified as Fils Turatsinze, 31.

Chief Inspector of Police (CIP) Hamdun Twizeyimana, the Police spokesperson of the Eastern region, said that Police worked with the victim to lure the prime suspect from Nyagatare District to Bugesera, where he was arrested red-handed with the motorcycle.

“Ndikuryayo came to learn that his motorcycle was stolen by Turatsinze and hiding in Nyagatare. A plan was hatched to use Turatsinze’s friend’s phone to contact and lure him to Bugesera where he thought he would get a lucrative business deal as promised during the phone call,” CIP Twizeyimana said.

He added: “Turatsinze indeed showed up on Thursday with the stolen motorcycle, he was arrested on arrival and the motorcycle recovered. Turatsinze has since been handed over to RIB (Rwanda Investigation Bureau) in Rweru.”
