50 Police officers undergo crime investigation course

Fifty Police officers are undergoing a five-day course in crime investigation at the Rwanda National Police Ethics centre in Kacyiru to further enrich their knowledge and skills in criminal investigative matters.

The course also seeks to further facilitate the force in collecting enough evidence against suspects to ensure fair justice.

The trainees include District Judicial Police Officers (DJPOs) and Police Station Commanders.

They will exhaust areas of Crime Scene Management, Forensic science, functioning and Jurisdiction of Criminal Courts and how to conduct interviews and exhibit handling, among others.

The Inspector General of Police (IGP), Emmanuel K. Gasana, while giving a lecture to participants on Thursday, challenged them to always seek to know more adding that the Policing environment is changing faces, which requires police officers to always be “ahead and informed.”

He told them to be focused to their mission and understand their responsibilities, which he added will help to meet the force’s vision.

He appealed to the officers to uphold discipline and desist from acts that might tarnish the good image and brand of the institution and the country in general.

“Always be informed, unified, innovative, lead by example and exhibit team spirit,” the IGP told the trainees.
