50 Police officers complete investigation course

Fifty Police officers, on March 22, completed a five-day workshop aimed at equipping them with more skills and knowledge in investigations.

The course was held at the Rwanda National Police Ethics centre in Kacyiru.
Training and capacitating officers is one of the force’s priorities.

Participants included District and Station Police Commanders and District Judicial Police Officers (DJPO).

The Deputy Inspector General of Police (DGIP) in charge of Operations, Dan Munyuza, who presided over the closing of the exercise, appealed to the officers to use the acquired skills and knowledge to effectively fulfill their assignments to maintain safety and security in the country.

He challenged them to be focused to their tasks, uphold discipline and lead by example.

The workshop covered areas such as duties and responsibilities of an officer, professional skills, Police and Human rights, Community Policing and partnership with other institutions.

They were also taught on how effectively to proceed and investigate crimes, how to effective exhibit handling.

Supt. (SP) Emmanuel Hitayezu, one of the participants thanked the RNP leadership for support to execute their duties effectively.

“This session has been a good opportunity for us to share experiences and learn from one another. We were also reminded of our responsibilities and it broadened our knowledge in investigations and other policing fields, which will bring more positive results,” Supt. Hitayezu, who is also the Northern region Police Spokesperson, observed.
