35 Police officers start First Aid training

Thirty-five Police officers are attending a two-day First Aid training at the Rwanda National Police RNP General Headquarters, Kacyiru to equip them with basic skills to respond to uncertainties.

The training that started on Saturday, December 9, is conducted by Rwanda National Police (RNP) in partnership with Health People Rwanda (HPR).

According to Chief Inspector of Police (CIP) Dr. Celestin Mureramanzi, the head of medical services at the RNP, the training equips the officers with knowledge and skills to offer First Aid to casualties of accidents and other emergencies.

"First Aid training is essential for Police officers to execute their duties effectively. Beyond just physical security, the health of the people is also crucial in matters of security," Dr. Mureramanzi said.

One of the trainers, Superintendent of Police (SP) Dr. Emile Musoni from the Emergency section at Kanombe Military Hospital, said that there are basics that a person offering First Aid should have to be able to help the person in need.

"For example, you need first to know what has occurred to that person, the extent of injury and the injured part of the body," Dr. Musoni said.

The training will also equip Police officers with knowledge of different medical equipment used in First Aid services depending on the nature of emergency or accident, and how to handle the victim.
