A contingent of 34 Rwanda National Police Officers left for a one year United Nations peace keeping mission in Sudan on Saturday under the African Union/United Nations Hybrid operations in Darful(UNAMID).
The contingent is led by Senior Superintendent Barnabe Nsengiyumva.
During their spell in Darfur, the Rwandan Police Officers will be executing various tasks such as mentoring and monitoring of Sudan local Police according to Senior Superintendent Toussais Muzezayo, the Director of Civpol in Rwanda National Police.
Rwanda contributes police peacekeepers in eight missions including South Sudan, Liberia, Mali, Haiti and Ivory Coast.
Meanwhile two other officers are set to depart for a UN mission in Haiti while three others will leave for peacekeeping duties in South Sudan today.
