25 Police officers begin investigation training

Twenty five Rwanda National Police officers from different Units have started a second phase training in “Basic Police Investigation Methods and Tactics” that is expected to equip them with necessary skills and knowledge in performing their duties.

The course to last for five days kicked off on November 24 at Rwanda National Police (RNP) headquarters in Kacyiru under the partnership with of Germany government that provided professional trainers.

According Chief Superintendent of Police (CSP), Barthelemy Rugwizangoga, Commissioner for Human Resource Management at RNP, the officers will be trained in basic operational tactics in criminal investigation, information collection and assessment, file keeping and documentation.

“This course is another milestone in our cooperation as Police Institutions. It is an added input to facilitate our institutions with requirements to combat crimes and secure the safety of Rwandans,” CSP Rugwizangoga said.

He urged the officers to take the course seriously and to share their skills with their colleagues once they have graduated.

“We are grateful to the Federal Republic of Germany and committed to strengthen our cooperation in various fields including sharing experiences and good practices.”  

One of the trainers, Frank Willecke  said: “Criminals always reform their tactics. There is necessity for law enforcers to be on alert on how best to combat their criminal acts, this training will add on the knowledge and capacity that the officers have in order to perform their duties more honorably.”
