As part of an ongoing Rwanda National Police (RNP) drive to support public health, 160 officers from the National Police College (NPC) participated in the voluntary blood donation exercise on Saturday, November 15.
The officers include students and staff at the NPC.
The RNP spokesperson, Assistant Commissioner of Police (ACP) Boniface Rutikanga, said blood donation is an integral part of the force’s mandate, and reflects the ongoing partnership between the RNP and the Rwanda Biomedical Centre (RBC).
“The safety and health of our community go hand-in-hand with safeguarding the well-being of the people we serve. Donating blood is an act of humanity—a lifesaving gesture that reflects the dedication of Police officers to protect, serve, and promote the welfare of the public.” ACP Rutikanga stated.
Martin Bizimana, from the Blood Transfusion Division in RBC, expressed gratitude to the RNP's commitment to promoting the blood donation campaign.
He emphasized the importance of the life-saving commitment exhibited by Police officers, who donate blood regularly.
“We extend our appreciation to the police officers, staff, and students for their consistent humanitarian spirit. Blood donation is a continuous act of compassion, and we encourage everyone to support this health act to save lives of Rwandans in need of blood; It could be your family or your neighbor," Bizimana said.
