KIGALI: 33 people arrested driving while intoxicated

Thirty-three people were arrested on various roads in City of Kigali after they were found driving or riding while intoxicated beyond the limit of 0.8 blood alcohol content

Two kanyanga distillers arrested in Muhanga


Two people, who were distilling and selling a crude illicit gin commonly known as kanyanga, were arrested in a Rwanda National Police (RNP) operation conducted on Sunday, October 17, in Muhanga District.

Jean Paul Sekanabo alias Gisenyi, 30, and Paulin Habuhazi, 23, were apprehended red-handed distilling kanyanga in Samuduha Village, Gifumba Cell, Nyamabuye Sector.  Read more...

RUHANGO: Police arrest man with counterfeit money


A man identified as Theoneste Bizimana, 41, was arrested on Saturday, October 16, at about 6pm, in Mataba Village, Mwendo Cell, Mbuye Sector of Ruhango District with counterfeit money amounting to Frw7, 000.

The Southern region Police spokesperson, Superintendent of Police (SP) Theobald Kanamugire said that Bizimana was arrested due to information provided by the would-be victims.  Read more...

EASTERN PROVINCE: Police foils drug traffickers


Police in partnership with other security organs and the public in Nyagatare and Kayonza districts, on Wednesday, October 20, foiled groups of traffickers, who were attempting to sneak 83kgs of cannabis and 33 litres of kanyanga, an illicit crude gin, into Rwanda.  Read more...

HUYE: Police seize 800 litres of illicit brew

About 840 litres of illicit brew were destroyed in Huye District after they were seized from distillers Simbi Sector, Huye District.

The substances locally known as Muriture were seized on Wednesday, October 20, from three producers in Bwiza Village, Kabasanza Cell in Simbi Sector.  Read more...

GICUMBI: Police recovers 29 stolen milk churns


Police in Gicumbi District, on October 21, recovered 29 milk churns, which are part of those that were stolen recently, and arrested 10 people in connection with the alleged criminal act.

At least 52 churns were stolen when a vehicle transporting milk was involved in an accidents on October 21, at about 2am in Maya Village, Kabuga Cell, Kageyo Sector. No life was lost.  Read more...

RULINDO: Eight arrested over illegal mining, bribery

Eight people were arrested on Friday, October 22, in a Rwanda National Police (RNP) operation against illegal mining activities in Rutongo mines in Burambi Village, Mahaza Cell, Ntarabana Sector, Rulindo District.

The suspects belong to the same group, which has been conducting illegal mining and related unlawful mineral trade in Rulindo.  Read more...
