COVID-19: Public optimistic on lockdown outcome


Residents in City of Kigali and in eight other districts, which were placed under lockdown that started on Saturday, July 17, are optimistic that this was a ?decisive government call? which will go a long way to slow down the rate of Covid-19 infections and save many lives.

City of Kigali alongside the districts of Rubavu, Rutsiro, Musanze, Burera, Gicumbi, Kamonyi, Rwamagana, and Nyagatare were put under lockdown until July 26, as the government strives to stop the surge of the deadly Covid Delta variant.  Read more...

COVID-19: Fresh warning over holding prohibited gatherings in Musanze


The recent Cabinet meeting prohibited, among others, all social gatherings including celebrations of all kinds both in public and private settings as one of the stringent measures to contain the Covid-19 pandemic.

Rwanda National Police (RNP) in partnership with other institutions in health and governance have since been conducting public awareness on the national Covid-19 prevention guidelines through various communication channels such as social media, radio and TV, as well as educating those arrested in related violation.  Read more...

RUSIZI: Police intercept vehicle trafficking narcotic drugs, skin bleaching products


Rwanda National Police (RNP), on Saturday, July 10, impounded a vehicle trafficking 60kgs and 50 pellets of cannabis, 652 pieces of skin bleaching lotions as well as other assorted goods, which were sneaked into Rwanda from Democratic Republic of Congo (DRC).

The driver identified as Innocent Mutabazi, 43, was also arrested when the Revenue Protection Unit (RPU) and Traffic and Road Safety department intercepted the vehicle in Uwimana Village, Giheke Cell, Giheke Sector.  Read more...  

COVID-19: 24 arrested in Musanze bridal shower party, three test positive


Twenty-four people were arrested Sunday, July 11, in Kabudundu Village, Kivugiza Cell, Muko Sector in Musanze District where they were holding a bridal shower, contrary to the government directives against COVID-19 spread.  Read more...  

Mobile Money fraudster arrested in Nyarugenge


Rwanda National Police (RNP) has arrested a man in City of Kigali, who belong to a racket that has been fleecing Mobile Money subscribers.

Valens Niyonzima, 41, was arrested in Kamuhoza Cell, Kimisagara Sector in Nyarugenge District. He was showed to the media on Wednesday, July 14, at Kigali Metropolitan Police in Remera, Gasabo district.  Read more... 

Police rescues injured man stuck in tree

The Rwanda National Police (RNP) Fire and Rescue Brigade (FRB) unit in Rubavu District was on Thursday, July 15, pressed into service to rescue a man stuck in a tree after sustaining a leg fracture.  Read more...

COVID-19: Over 230 arrested holding prayer gathering in Ruhango

Rwanda National Police (RNP) arrested 239 people, who had converged and praying at a hill in Kanyarira Village, Mpanda Cell in Byimana Sector, Ruhango District, contrary to the government?s directives against gatherings.

The violators belonging to different religious denominations, were found congregating at Kanyarira hill in the morning of Saturday, July 17.  Read more...
