DASSO acquires new strength of 416 personnel

The District Administration Security Support Organ (DASSO) has gained new 416 members from 16 districts, who completed the 6th intake at the Police Training School (PTS) Gishari in Rwamagana District, on Thursday, January 5.

The Minister of Local Government Jean Claude Musabyimana presided over the pass-out of the 6th DASSO basic training course.

The event was also attended by provincial governors, the Deputy Inspector General of Police (DIGP) in charge of Administration and Personnel, Jeanne Chantal Ujeneza and district mayors.  Read more...

GERAYO AMAHORO: Police continues awareness on safer road usage

The countrywide Gerayo Amahoro campaign continued this Friday, January 6, as Rwanda National Police (RNP) and partners reached out to different road users to further influence a culture of safer road usage.

In the City of Kigali, the campaign involved creating Zebra Crossings at different hotspots and repainting old ones.

Motorists, cyclists and pedestrians were educated on pedestrian rights.  Read more...

Six arrested over driver's license fraud

Rwanda National Police (RNP) has arrested six people in connection with fraudulent issuance of driver's license.

Those arrested include four Police officers and two civilians, who were acting as brokers.

The four Police officers, who include those attached to the department of Testing and Licensing, and their accomplices, were on Friday, January 6, paraded to the media at Kigali metropolitan headquarters in Remera.  Read more...

Police breaks ring of polythene bag traffickers

Separate operations by the Police and local leaders in Muhanga and Burera districts led to the seizure of about 190,000 pieces plastic bags and arrest four people in connection with trafficking and sell of the outlawed non-biodegradable packaging products.

Two of the suspects identified as Justin Nsabimana, 36, and Jackson Niyonsaba, 33, were arrested on Tuesday, January 3, in Gitima Village of Tyazo Cell in Muhanga Sector following information provided by residents.

The duo was at the time found in possession of 160,000 pieces of plastic bags, concealed in two sacks.  Read more...

Three arrested for vandalizing power lines

Police arrested three people in Nyarugenge and Gisagara districts for allegedly vandalizing power lines and stealing pylon crossarms, nuts and bolts, which they were selling as scraps.

Two of the suspects were arrested Thursday in Mataba, Mageragere Sector in Nyarugenge District where they were attempting to cut and steal electricity wires from poles.

In Gasagara District, one Mugabe Albert was arrested at his home in Gikonko Sector, Gikonko Cell in Gahabwa Village where 6kgs of bolts and 20 pieces of crossarms stolen from pylons, were recovered.  Read more...

NGORORERO: Police seize 1390kgs of minerals from illegal dealers

Police in Ngororero District, on Saturday, December 31, seized about 1390kgs of lithium mineral from illegal miners and unlicensed dealers.

The minerals were recovered from various homes in Gapfura Village, Rusororo Cell in Muhororo Sector where seven people were arrested.  Read more...
