Eligibility requirements and application process for police officers

When you apply to be a Police Officer, you will go trough our recruitment process. If you successfully complete the process, you will be selected as a Recruit for Police College.

As part of the application, you'll need to prepare all the requied supporting documents before submission

Minimum requirement
  • Before applying, ensure that you meet minimum requirements.
  • Rwandan by nationality
  • Aged between 18 and 27 years old.
  • Be in excellent health
  • Have a good character
  • Hold a university degree (A0)
  • No criminal conviction of more than six (6) months
Application Process

Our recruitment process assessess key competencies encompassing intellect, health conditions, fitness and prior offence history.

Recruitment application

You will be required to submit an application for you and submit all required documents to the nearest District Police Unit. Your application will be assessed, and some may be rejected.

Selection of eligible candidates for written exam

Our recruitment officers will review your application to determine your eligibility and suitability to join Rwanda National Police.

Recruit

A candidate who successfully completes the health, physical and fitness checks will wait for an invitation to start training at the Police School.

Entrance exam

You will do 2 hours written exam [we could mention the written exam component]. You need to obtain at least 50% marks to pass the exam. If you do not pass the written exam, your application will end.

Health, fitness and physical checks

You will be required to do a health, physical and fitness test designed to assess your current health status, cardio fitness and physical strength
