PEACEKEEPING: Rwandan Police peacekeepers donate to vulnerable students in South Sudan

The Rwanda Formed Police Unit One (RWAFPU1-7) deployed in Malakal, Upper Nile State under the UN Mission in South Sudan (UNMISS), donated scholastic materials to displaced pupils of two primary schools in Malakal.

The donation, including 1200 books and 1000 pens, were handed over to West Primary School and Salam Primary School, on Tuesday, May 2, by Senior Superintendent of Police (SSP) Prudence Ngendahimana, the contingent commander for RWAFPU1-7.

The two schools are located inside the Protection of Civilians Camp (PoC), which is under the protection of the Rwandan peacekeepers.  Read more...

Police seize skin bleaching cosmetics in Kigali

A man suspected of being part of the group that traffics the outlawed skin bleaching cosmetics into the country, was arrested by the Police in City of Kigali on Friday, May 5.

The 38-year old suspect was found in possession of 1234 pieces of assorted skin whitening products commonly known as Mukorogo.  Read more...

Warning over use of plastic bags as Police arrests two dealers

Sell or use of plastic bags is prohibited and punishable by law in Rwanda.

Fighting plastic carry bags and single-use plastic items is, therefore, part of the Rwanda National Police (RNP) routine operations to enforce the law.

In separate operations conducted on Monday, May 1, in Gakenke and Burera districts, Police arrested two women, who were at the time trafficking over 83,200 pieces of the outlawed non-biodegradable polythene bags.  Read more...

FIGHTING DRUG ABUSE: Taxi-moto operator intercepted trafficking cannabis

A 41-year old taxi-moto operator was arrested on Sunday, April 30, in Gakenke District with 10kgs of cannabis and 2 litres of Kanyanga, an illicit gin.

Police intercepted the commercial motorcyclist in Remera village of Gasiza cell in Bushoki sector, as he headed to Kigali.  Read more...
