PEACEKEEPING: Rwanda to replace two Police contingents in CAR, South Sudan

On Wednesday, May 10, the Deputy Inspector General of Police (DIGP) in charge of Operations, Vincent Sano briefed the two contingents to be deployed under the UN Multidimensional Integrated Stabilization Mission in Central African Republic (MINUSCA), and South Sudan (UNMISS).

IN PICTURES: Rotation of Rwanda Formed Police Unit in South Sudan

On Thursday, May 11, Rwanda National Police RNP replaced its Formed Police Unit One (RWAFPU-1) serving under the UN Mission in South Sudan (UNMISS).

It is the eighth rotation since the maiden contingent was deployed in Malakal, Upper Nile State in 2015.

Rwanda FPU1-8 contingent of 240 officers commanded by Senior Superintendent of Police Mudathir Twebaze left early in the morning to replace FPU1-7, which returned home later in the afternoon after a successful one-year tour-of-duty.  Read more...

ROAD SAFETY: Motorists warned against hiding plate numbers


There is a deliberate tendency especially by taxi-moto operators, to hide plate numbers to violate traffic rules and regulations, and to prevent being detected.

According to Assistant Commissioner of Police (ACP) Gerald Mpayimana, the Commissioner for Traffic and Road Safety department, more than 400 motorcycles have been impounded over the past one month, the majority in City of Kigali.  Read more...
