Village leaders, cell Executive Secretaries, members of Community Policing Committees (CPCs), Distinct Administrative Security Support Organ (DASSO) and representatives of National Women Council (CNF) in Kibungo sector, met on September 17, in Cyasemakamba cell to appraise their work status and devise strategies to tighten security in the area.
Assistant Inspector of Police (AIP), Jean Pierre Ndayisaba, the Ngoma District Community Liaison Officer (DCLO) took the participants through various sorts of drugs namely, illegal brews and gins like Kanyanga, Blue Sky, Chief Waragi and cannabis.
He appealed to the participants to fight consumption and sell of such drugs, saying they lead to crimes like theft, assault, rape, defilement, gender and domestic related crimes.
AIP Ndayisaba urged the members of DASSO and CPCs to be catalysts of positive change in their respective areas by being involved in various developmental programs and exhibit high level of discipline.
He called upon them to tighten their night patrols and always seek for advices on anything which exceeds their abilities.
He also appealed to gender representatives to continue standing against crimes linked to gender and domestic offenses.
Gilbert Mapendo, the Executive Secretary for Kibungo sector, appealed to the participants, especially local leaders to work closely with the population and sensitize it to refrain from unlawful deeds, drug dealing, among others.
He told the participants to lead by example and report in time those involved in any sort of criminalities.
He urged them to be part of Government programs aimed at improving their wellbeing like engaging in monthly community work,”Umuganda”, to posses medical insurance “Mutuelle de santé” and also sensitize the public the same.
